For Love Or Freedom by Lili MahoneyMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
I found this story somewhat enjoyable, but just a little off putting. If you've read at least this first novel in "The Monster Trilogy" by Marissa Farrar, then take that story and throw in children and a christian believe system. I found the story itself enjoyable as I got to experience the terror of a woman and her child being abducted and transferred to an unknown location, and then see how she slowly ends up falling in love with the man that ordered their abduction. I think most women out there will enjoy this story, especially if you are a fan of ideas like finding love in unexpected places.
That being said, here are the hard truths that most likely apply to me only (so don't take it personal). I personally did not appreciate the religious tie ins this story contained, or the process that a pregnant woman has to go through. I am not a strong believer in any one religion, so I sped past the mentions of god and faith and waited for the next interesting thing to happen while reading this novel. Since I, myself, have no children and no plans to have children in the future, the process is unappealing and I'd much rather avoid reading about it if I can spare myself. That being said, I still feel that most women will probably enjoy reading this book. I was given a copy of this book to read and share my honest opinion about.
